When Love Actually first came out no one really liked it. After a few years it became so popular that is now regarded as the best Christmas film. It’s is all about love and Christmas. Many interesting storylines, amazing characters and the actors who play them. I really like Emma Thompson, the late Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant, Bill Nighy, Colin Firth and my favourite Keira Knightley. They make Love Actually a truly magical Christmas film.
And if you are as much of a big fan as me, you would’ve watched the TV special sequel Red Nose Day Actually where the cast reunite to pick up from where they are now.
Home Alone 1,2
Home Alone was my childhood favourite and still remains in my view the best family film of all times. Every year I watch Home Alone 1 and 2 with my family around Christmas time. I absolutely love Macaulay Culkin and I don’t think anyone could play Kevin better than him. If you want to embrace Christmas with tears of laughter in your eyes, then Home Alone is the best choice.
Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal. And a Happy New Year 😀
Bridget Jones films
I can’t tell you how much of a Bridget Jones’s fan I am. Although she is a bit clumsy and awkward, there’s something about the character that instantly captured my heart.
The newest film is called Bridget Jones’s Baby which always has me in stitches on the floor. This year, like any other year, I will start again at the beginning and binge watch all three films.
Harry Potter and Philosopher’s stone
I’ve lost count how many times I’ve rewatched the whole Harry Potter movies. The first film though is my absolute favourite and has got a lot of Christmas vibes.
And if you are a huge fan of Harry, Hermione and Ron then why not binge watch the whole lot. You’ve got plenty of time before Christmas.
Mary Poppins Returns
This is a new release in December 2018 and I am very keen to see it in the cinema. I adore Emily Blunt and having seen the trailer, she’s done a great job embodying the famous Mary Poppins.
Mary makes a gracious return to help the next generation of the Banks family to overcome their recent loss.
When it comes to Shrek, adults shouldn’t feel they need an excuse (or a child) to watch this cartoon. There are plenty of cheesy adult jokes and so I am absolutely watching it this Christmas. A really nice family movie to have good giggles altogether.
And what are you watching this Christmas with your family?
