Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation Review

I always struggle to find a suitable foundation. Either the shade or the texture doesn’t work on my face. What makes it even harder is my no longer flawless skin.

I came across the Chanel Les Beiges foundation under very peculiar circumstances. I was visiting family in Russia and decided to stay at my grandmother’s overnight. She is quite stylish and looks after herself very well. I always check her drawers for new cosmetics or perfumes to try out. This time she had quite a few bits that I hadn’t seen before. Fair enough. We hadn’t seen each other for over a year.

Chanel Les Beiges was one of her recent purchases. It came in a medium shade 30. A bit dark for me but I still decided to give it a go. It was summer anyway. Everyone looked a few shades darker.

I always use my fingers to apply my foundation and concealer. It’s nice to be able to feel your skin. Plus brushes are another expense and take up quite a lot of space. I know some beauty bloggers are in favour of using brushes and “juggle” up to ten brushes when they apply their make-up.

The Chanel foundation felt very light and smooth and had a nice even finish. The fact that it was a shade darker than my skin helped to cover up most of my imperfections. If you read the description it says that this foundation is almost invisible and gives you a natural healthy glow. And my face did look brighter and fresher. I have very dry skin and this foundation kept it moisturised. I really loved it so decided to purchase the same one but a shade lighter (20).

The lighter you go the less coverage you get. Though I still prefer the lighter shade as my skin instantly looks healthier and more glowing. To be fair you could just use a bit of concealer on top to mask any blemishes. It works just fine for me.

I’ve used this foundation every day for over three months now and there’s still half a bottle left. It’s not buildable hence you only need a little bit of the product each time. I do have quite a few spots and post-acne scars on my cheeks that are still visible once I’ve applied the foundation. So I finish it off with a concealer. It might not be suitable if you suffer from severe skin problems.

  • Can be easily applied with fingers
  • Very lightweight and gives a natural look
  • Smells really nice
  • Gives a beautiful glow and fresh look
  • Easy to take off
  • Moisturises skin
  • SPF 25 protection

  • Minimal coverage so unable to cover up all imperfections
  • If the shade is too light it doesn’t mask redness
  • Not buildable – I personally don’t like full coverage foundations so this one is a positive for me. Although sometimes I wish it was a tiny bit thicker.
  • Pricey like any Chanel product

I hope this helps and if you have any questions please ask in the comments section below. Let me know how you are getting on with this foundation.
